How to get notice in the blog world. When somebody blogs about you.

This post is all about showing off of course, then again only Robert Scoble blogged about me, once, and I shared the post with 2 more people, and was only a few words, and I've may asked Robert for it, and ...

Ok enough of not being important, what's is important is that somebody posted a blog about my oldest daughter and I didn't know about. Is she going to be more important than me in the blogging world?

If you look around the web, you'll find great resources in what to do and what not to do, also known as the DOs and DONTs. I personally believe this one is my favorite: Keep you blog from sucking. Unfortunately I do some of his "donts" But I'm trying to get much better, for once, I'll include from now on my subscription link : Subscribe Here to Al Pascual Or you can always use the link on top of my blog.

Second, I won't apologize anymore for not blogging some days. Scott Hanselman believes is a mistake. Also in his post he point out to know who your audience is? Well, that's really difficult to do, yes I know a few by email, but I do not know why they are subscribing to my blog. None of the tools out there checking the people hitting your blog will tell you who are they, will tell you where they are from, but really, that's no help to keep your audience interested.

For example, if I reply email questions on my blog instead of sending your the answer by email, would you come back to my blog? For Ben, that sent me a question about how to see a compiled .NET dll in COM, you should change the AssemblyInfo,.cs or vb from:

// Setting ComVisible to false makes the types in this assembly not visible
// to COM components.  If you need to access a type in this assembly from
// COM, set the ComVisible attribute to true on that type.
[assembly: ComVisible(false)]

to

[assembly: ComVisible(true)]

Does this mean that Ben will come back to check for his answer? Or he is expecting an email? How do I keep people from unsubscribing my blog? How do I get more subscribers? And the most important one, how do I engage my subscribers?

The blogging world is an interesting one, there are millions of blogs out there that people read every day. Making your blog unique is just a hard task and I believe that takes more than 15 minutes a day. Just by having a blog does not mean people will read it. Just because Google and Technorati index your blog every week, does not mean you'll get any hits. And having the blog for more than 2 years does not mean people will not unsubscribe. So if you thought this post was about giving ideas how to improve your blog, you don't know me yet, still trying to learn that one and get some exposure from other bloggers.

Cheers

Al
