The most expensive service on the web? Where is the cheap Internet Terabyte?

Did anybody sign for http://www.box.net/info/pricing-plans ? Looks like Scoble is pushing in a few post for this service to store 5 Gig of space for $8 not per year but per month! I find it extremely expensive. Am I the only one? Now, more than ever, users need an Internet storage for pictures, videos, documents and the more important part; backups of their computers, as we are upgrading computers and operating's systems are crashing you need a place to store all the information to your finger tips. Of course, external hard disks are now found in every family like the video camera or cell phone, however a great place to store that information and safeties, should be the Internet now.

Maybe sound like an oxymoron, but having a private storage place accessible from anywhere, backed up professionally and protected from electric outrages as well as fire and natural disasters should be the first priority from any family.

Living in Southern California, we learn to be ready for any disaster, that's why all the family picture and documents are all stored on a external hard disk inside a safe, still not very happy about the system, I would like to have a copy on a private Internet storage. I believe that there is a big gap on the web for companies providing these services to families, at least a cheap computer imaging system to restore your computer is essential out there.

I hope in 2008 many start ups will think to provide this service for a yearly prices instead of a monthly price.

Cheers

Al
