Apple TV was a big disappointment
I was one of the people wanting for Apple to come out with the "right" solution for TV, and yet, Apple didn't deliver what users should have by now. We have been waiting for so long and the technology is there already, however nobody was come up with. Apple is the company that had the money and the resources, and still didn't bring the solution we all expect. These are the requirements that make sense for any family household TV system:
- One device the connect to the Internet wireless or wired.
- Wireless adapters with HDMI to connect to every TV, should support at least 4 different TVs.
- 1080p.
- Internet DVR, no hard disk to store your shows, all shows will be stored on the web, so you do not have to record, the service will record everything for at least 2 months. So you can subscribe to a show, or browse all movies and shows to stream them to any TV.
The latest is the most important part of the requirements, we do not need to purchase an expensive device with a huge hard disk, all content will be streamed using the Web to the device and buffered into an small hard disk on the device.
Of course that's going to push FIOS in every household, and that's really good, cable modem and DSL are already too slow.
What did Apple came up with on 2008 MacWorld is something that was good enough for 2004 not 4 years later. They provide an expensive device for pay per view in HD 720p! I have that for free using cable TV, Direct TV or Dish Network.
I love Apple as much as I love Microsoft, I purchased the iPhone and I find that device ahead of any other on the market, so I was expecting the same thing for Apple TV. I really hope, they are just taking small steps but working towards the Internet DVR. In any case, there are great reviews about the MacWorld, I would like to share a few:
A Review to the Apple TV from PcWorld.
A review to the first day at mac World.

Apple TV review from Hanselman
By the way, how much would you pay for a laptop with 2GB of RAM and 80GB or hard drive? Would you pay $1.799?
Also set up Gmail on your iPhone using IMAP instead of Pop3:
