Geo RSS added on the blog as a HttpHandler for Community Server 2007

Thursday, January 03 2008

As promised I added Geo RSS on Community Server. You can subscribe here. Or better yet, by using Google Maps you can see the blog in a geographically

image

GeoRSS is RSS with a geographic information: a point, line or polygon. for example if adding a point will describe a latitude and longitude:

I added on the page a logo for RSS to be able to subscribe:

Was easy to add GeoRSS into Community Server 2007 by adding a new Http Handler that reads the normal RSS and adds the Geographic location into the feed, the httphandler point to the page georss.aspx like the handler for RSS points to the Rss.aspx page.

This is just a proof of concept, I'll be posting the code after I do some clean up and I remove the hard coded stuff to allow people to implement the HttpHandler for their Community Servers.

Cheers
