Microsoft MVP Summit Key Notes

Thursday, April 17 2008

Steve Ballmer was by far the highlight of the Microsoft MVP Summit, his energy and motivation is normally something that many people likes and his message was simple as well as direct. He didn't get, of course, inside any details, that's ok as I am bound by NDA anyway. Ray Ozzie did go into more detail about plans for the future of Microsoft products.

This week has been really good for me, I was able to ask any questions and answers were provided, or like Steve Ballmer says, if somebody is not replying, to forward the email to him. I hate when people forward or cc my boss when I am busy. Then again accountability is very important. All questions from users to you should be answered, internally or externally. Some big companies should put in place a open communication inside departments and outside customers, they are both equally important.

I did experiment with Twitter. As for these post, I can say that twitter has its place and is really good as a chat program, following more than 20 people can be a nightmare. In a Summit/Conference these size I would appreciate some Geo Twitter. It's coming soon, with Geo Twitter you'll be able to find people around you. I'll be working in having the project finished by next month. Any help is appreciated.

Last night we have a big Microsoft Party, there was Karaoke with a live band, never seen that, still had to be embarrassing for the people that sang.

Also MS set up Rock Band for people to play. Your shot to be famous!

The next MVP Summit is from March 1st to March 4th 2009.

Also I would like to mention that thecodetrip.com made it to Redmond.

And finally Scott Guthrie posted the news about the new MVC. The first day, Scott Hanselman and Phil Haack gave a great presentation about MVC and the part I still believe is the best one, I don't have to bother with UI. I am thinking to use it for Geo Twitter now that I am early on the development to see again how far are they from deployment.

In Summary was great to come to the MVP Summit 2008. Learn a lot, can't wait to put in practice everything I learned.

Cheers

Al
