What excitements 2008 brings!
Another year is gone, went faster than ever, not going to look back into the year that its already gone. Was a good year, but the new one will bring new technologies and projects.
Rumors on the blogs are saying that Apple is going to upgrade the firmware again to enable on the iPhone the locate me button on Google Maps. Will use triangulation with the cell towers. Looking forward that upgrade as when Apple opens the iPhone for 3rd party developers. Firmware 1.1.3 gallery of pictures preview. On the screen shots you'll find the Google maps supports locate me, the applications will be drag and drop, editable home screen, bookmarks on the home page and more coming out on the 1.1.3 firmware. You can download the video with the firmware 1.1.3 demo here. Did Apple wanted to leak the firmware 1.1.3 yet? I remember the firmware 1.1.2 was leaked as well.
The year 2008 just started and already sounds like this year is going to be fantastic. Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and Silverlight 2.0 will make the year pretty exciting for sure. Apple opening up the iPhone will ensure that geeks like me that got an iPhone for Xmas will spend endless nights writing code for it.
Hopefully Microsoft will release an affordable Surface as well this year. Don't hold your breath in that one, they have been showing Microsoft Surface for a few years now.
Microsoft Home Server will start showing up on the family living rooms. Fiber Optic Internet (Fios) will be in all neighborhoods.
ArcGisServer 9.3 will be released.
I personally looking forward to the Microsoft MVP Summit and the MIX 2008. I'm confirm that I am going to the MVP Summit, still is in the air about the MIX 2008. I don't think I got enough time this year.
Silverlight 2.0 will be finally release.
I'm also looking forward to the birth of my 3rd child. I already got 2 daughters so I really would like a boy this time.
Wishing you a wonderful 2008!
Cheers
Al
