For first time a president that understands the “Internets” will come into office on January 20th, 2009. Seems like the leader of the free world should be required to be able to use email, twitter and blogging, should be a required question on the campaign trail, as well as part of their resume. Yet we have to wait until 2009 to get a president that understands technology and uses as a via of communication.
Yet the old laws about the president correspondence will force the president elect to depart from his blackberry and exterior email. The law says, “the president can’t communicate only with the people who voted for him” Very confusing law, so he cannot email people? Also any correspondence from the president becomes property of the office, not the president.
President elect Obama have used Twitter weekly and SMS, phone messaging, to keep in touch with friends, family and supporters.
I was very happy when back in November 4th, 2008 we elected Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States, I learned now all the communication rules that he’ll have to obey, that means that it won’t be the transparency the Internet provides. No more twitter messages. Wouldn’t be cool to have him twit “Thinking of signing this new bill, send me your comments”? or reading a weekly blog with post about the president’s actions with open comments?
The Internet has provided a better communication with people with the same interest, friends and family. I would like to see those rules from the office of the president being revisited at the technology age to improve the communication between government and the people that elected such.
Still, the first president with a laptop at the oval office, is he a PC or a MAC?
Cheers
Al
